OUR HISTORY

On the third Saturday of September 1997, Joseph Dunn, Louis Cross Jr., John Richardson, Vanessa Evans, Brenda Cross, Kim Dunn, Mary Hill, Alfreda Hill and Margaret Hill gathered together at 1067 East 69th Street to form a mission and to discuss the need for pastoral leadership. Joseph Dunn and Louis Cross Jr. went to Rev. Oscar Hill and asked him if he would accept the spiritual responsibilities of leading our mission in the ways of God. Rev. Hill accepted this leadership and immediately established a weekly bible class which met on Tuesday evenings at the Loving Cross Group Home, located at 1623 Crawford Road. During this time we took on the name of Christ Star Mission.

Under Rev. Hill's leadership we began to grow spiritually and in numbers. Several weeks later, the Mission then called Rev, Hill to be Our pastor, and he accepted. On the second Sunday of November 1997 we relocated to 11204 Union Ave. where we continued to grow.

On February 20th, 1998 Moderator E.D. Small, 1st Vice Moderator Earl R. Brewer and the Union District officiall established our mission to become The Christ Star Missionary Baptist Church, at which time 40 saints were taken in as full fledged members.

Under Pastor Hill's leadership, the members began to work diligently to acquire our own house of praise and worship. Pastor Hill found a building and asked the members to view it for a possible church dwelling. The building was purchased and paid for in full, owing no one but God! Our first service was held in this building, which was located at 3112 East 130th Street. The fourth Sunday, September 27th 1999 marked our official dedication service. Pastor Benjamin Hill of the New Friendship Baptist Church of Macon Ga., kicked off our two week long service which was celebrated with our sister churches.

Through much prayer, faith, and missionary work, God has continued to bless us. We have acquired pulpit furniture, office equipment, carpet throughout the sanctuary and new pews, all at little or no cost. the outside of our building was painted as a free will offering by the people in the neighborhood. We pray daily that Christ Star will be the light on the hill that leads sinners to Christ!

Original History Submitted by Mother Margaret Hill

Pastor Hill went on to Glory on April 18th 2014, leaving a legacy of bible learned pupils to carry on in his stead. Pastor Willie Terry carried the torch until God sent Elder Robert E. Vaughn Sr. to lead his flock on the first Sunday in March, 2015. the enemy tried to delay the growth of the church by breaking into the church and stealing everything up to and including the furnace during the Installation week, but he could not stop God's plan! The Inspirational Voices of Peace began the Installation week on Wednesday April 22nd with an Installation Concert, followed by Pastor Aaron Phillips and Sure House M.B.C. on Thursday , and then Pastor C.K. Washburn and The Abundantly Living Church on Friday. Pastor Vaughn was installed on April 26, 2016 by Pastor Michael W. Turner and The Original Harvest Missionary Baptist Church and wholeheartedly accepted into the Christ Star Family! Pastor Vaughn and His Wife, the lovely First Lady LaTrisha Vaughn have accepted the assignment of carrying Christ Star further to the heights that the Lord has in store for our church! God is doing a great thing at Christ Star M.B.C. and we are ready to grow with Him!
